  • Iluka has over 60 years of mineral sands mining, concentrating and processing experience. The company also upgrades ilmenite to a higher grade titanium dioxide containing product, synthetic rutile. While Iluka’s current mining operations are all dry mining, the company has conducted dredge mining operations in the United States and held a 51 per cent interest in the Queensland dredge mining operation, Consolidated Rutile Limited.
  • Iluka possesses in-house technical experience in geology, metallurgy, resource development and process engineering, as well as the environmental sciences. Iluka combines these technical abilities, a research and development track record and significant operational experience in achieving operational outcomes across differing ore bodies and in producing products to defined specifications for a range of end market applications. Iluka’s operations also entail a commitment to high standards of environmental performance, including extensive rehabilitation of various land types, from agricultural lands to complex, natural eco-systems.
Mineral Sands - Brief Overview

Iluka has the ability to operate its assets in a flexible and highly integrated manner. Production can be “flexed” according to market conditions.

Flex-ops-820x712 A key feature of Iluka’s operational base is its highly integrated nature. This provides flexibility for the company to source concentrate from various mine locations for processing at different mineral separation facilities. The flexibility and integrated nature of the operational base also enables Iluka to adjust production based on market conditions. This includes de-rating production or idling part of capacity as required. For example, the company can idle one or more synthetic rutile kilns, yet with a relatively rapid and capital-efficient reactivation capacity.
